Landscaping marketing that books $40,000+ design-build projects.

SEO, Google Ads, and AI search visibility built for US landscape contractors doing $25K–$150K design-build work. The problem in this category isn’t lead volume — it’s that generic landscaping marketing buries your design-build business under a pile of mowing enquiries.

SEC 01  ·  The Problem

You do $60,000 landscape builds. Your phone rings about mowing.

“Landscaping” is one word covering two completely different businesses. One sells a $180/month maintenance route. The other sells a designed outdoor transformation costing more than a car. Google can’t tell them apart unless your site does — and most landscape sites lump both together, which trains the algorithm to send you the cheap half.

  • Maintenance queries drown out design-buildSearch volume for mowing and cleanup dwarfs design-build volume. Without deliberate separation, your ads and rankings get colonised by the low-ticket half of the market.
  • Your best work sits behind a generic services pageA $90K outdoor transformation and a hedge trim listed under the same “Services” heading tells a high-budget buyer nothing about whether you’re the right firm.
  • Design fees are hard to sell coldSerious landscape work starts with a paid design phase, and buyers who arrived expecting a free quote balk at it. The site has to justify that step before the call, not during it.
  • You’re invisible to ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini“Who does landscape design in my area” is increasingly an AI question, and the models rarely distinguish design-build firms from maintenance companies unless your entity makes it obvious.

DEEP-DIVE  ·  Separating the two businesses

Stop marketing maintenance and design-build from the same site.

If you run both, they need separate service architecture — separate pages, separate campaigns, separate calls to action, and ideally separate Google Business Profile categories. Blending them costs you twice: high-budget buyers can’t tell you do their kind of work, and your ad spend gets eaten by people who want a quote for weekly cutting.

  • Distinct design-build section with its own landing structure
  • Project pages organised by budget band and scope, not plant list
  • Paid design-phase explainer that pre-sells the fee
  • Aggressive negative-keyword walls on all maintenance intent
  • Google Business Profile categories set to landscape designer, not lawn care

What the system looks like when it’s working.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLE · LANDSCAPE DESIGN-BUILD · CHARLOTTE NC

Fewer leads, four times the revenue.

A landscape firm doing $2.4M/yr across maintenance and design-build was fielding roughly 90 enquiries a month, almost all of them mowing. Splitting the two businesses and walling off maintenance intent cut total lead volume by two thirds — and roughly quadrupled revenue per lead.

SEC 05  ·  Common questions

Landscape marketing — answered.

We do maintenance too. Do we have to drop it?

No — and you shouldn’t, because maintenance revenue is recurring and it keeps crews busy between builds. What has to change is that the two stop sharing one marketing surface. Separate pages, separate campaigns, ideally separate GBP categories. Run them as two businesses that happen to share a yard.

Won’t cutting lead volume hurt us?

Volume isn’t the goal; booked design consults are. In this category the two usually move in opposite directions, because most of the volume is maintenance intent. Expect total enquiries to fall noticeably and revenue per enquiry to rise sharply. If that trade makes you uncomfortable, this system is the wrong fit and we’ll say so.

What’s the ideal project size and revenue range?

We’re built for landscape firms doing $1M–$10M/year with design-build projects averaging $25K–$150K. If your typical job is under $10K, the retainer maths doesn’t work and you’d get more from GBP optimisation and a review programme first.

How do we sell a paid design phase to a cold enquiry?

You mostly don’t sell it on the call — the site does it beforehand. Publishing your process, showing designs alongside the built result, and being explicit that serious work starts with a paid plan filters out free-quote shoppers before they reach your calendar. Firms that explain the fee openly close it far more often than firms that spring it in conversation.

Do you also build the website?

Both options work. Most landscape firms need a genuine design-build section and a portfolio reorganised by scope and budget before traffic converts. That’s bundled into Accelerate and Dominate.

Who owns everything you build?

You do. Everything lives in your accounts, in your name. If we ever part ways, everything stays with you. This is non-negotiable — we don’t hold client work hostage.
